My Wested is the lambskin version. It is every bit as "heavy and tough" as the ones I found at the mall. I havent done the extreme things to it though as it sounds you are going to do. But for everyday wear and brushing up against a few "goons" you wont have any problem with it. If you are going to go "and beat the hell out of it" you should consider an old military field jacket instead. You can pick them up for $20-30 all day long, and they'll last a lifetime. Danno
