They used up 5 or so wested jackets to make the scene; surely at least the same number of pants was sacrificed.
As to the abscence of tear.. he was on his back, right? When he'd get up, the back part of his pants would be gone, right? Now, a knife cut on a cheek or a torn-off sleeve do not
in themselves threaten the PG-13 rating nor the cool of the Man with/im der Hat. But his underwear showing, (or even more) I trust and believe, certainly would.
