Serious Raiders Map Room Observation....

In the scene we all know where the sun shines through the Staff of Ra head piece and onto the "map" model:

Would the fact that the sun shines through the hole in the ceiling not be dependant on the time of year? Or am I just being a northern hemisphere numpty? (Does the sun's path alter at that latitude??).

Any comments?
