: OK, it seems that sound effects guy Ben Burtt does the sound for all
: the Lucasfilm Productions. He seems to have his special touch
: everytime, first he puts in the canned scream (discussed by Short
: Round all the time) which are rampant in all the Star Wars, Indiana
: Jones, and the Young Indy's. Also, I think I discovered another
: little Ben Burtt trademark recently. It seems almost everytime there
: is an explosion in these movies, you can hear in the background this
: distinctive sound. YOu can hear it best in these situations: first in
: Star Wars: A New Hope, in the shootout between Luke, Han, and Chewie
: in the cell bay (trying to rescue Leia) when they shoot off those
: security cameras you can hear that sound I'm talking about layered in
: with the actual explosion. The next situation, comes in Young Indiana
: Jones: Tales of Innocence, in the scene after they find out the
: Italian girl both of them are chasing after is getting married to
: someone else (Alfredo, hilarious! :) Indy and Ernest Hemmingway are
: bickering while German planes are bombing the village and Indy and
: Hemmingway are acting totally oblivious to the bombing. When one of
: the bombs hits this wall and all this bricks and stone hit everyone,
: you can hear the same sound layered within this particular explosion.
: Has anyone noticed this before?

:
: Oh, and one more thing. Does anyone know of anymore of those canned
: screams that can be heard in any non-Lucasfilm movies? (I know of that
: same scream heard in The Wild Bunch)

Believe it or not, a lot of the sound effects are considered "stock" sounds and a lot of royalties are paid for the use of those sounds. They are created by an individual, and if they are distinguishable, such as the ones you point out here, I guarantee that they are indeed stock and owned by the creator or contractor of that particular original movie, and any variants following. Boy, everyone gets a piece of the pie, even the canned scream people! Regards. Michaelson
