I think the quality of the film itself, the clarity as you call it, is much better (especially in Raiders)as well as the sound. And, if you get the widescreen versions, you do indeed see things that HAVE NOT BEEN SEEN since the original theatrical release. Plus you get the free peacock's eye tape, AND the interviews. All in all, I think it was worth it, for me that is, hell, I took the day off from work to go get 'em the day they ame out!
