Here's something to consider, in light of this discussion: INDY 4 would be a Steven Speilberg film as well as a George Lucas production.

While Mr. Lucas has definitely grown softer and fuzzier since his days as the angry young filmmaker from the 70's who wanted to shoot a movie about Viet Nam IN Viet Nam during the war, Mr. Speilberg's last few films have been the grittiest, and most serious of his career. I think if Steven Speilberg puts his time into a movie, it'll be worth it. He's in his 50s, and is perhaps looking to the future and wondering how many films he has left in his life. I think if he takes the time to make an Indiana Jones film, he'll make the movie he wants to make.

Is Harrison Ford getting too old, you ask? Maybe. What if the story were about that, then? What if the theme of the movie, or perhaps just the comedic elements, was about the travails of an aging adventurer, who is perhaps getting a little too old for the business? Even TOD and LC, as good as they were, couldn't recapture the 'feel' of RAIDERS. Perhaps an Indy film 20+ years later shouldn't try either, but try to explore something different.
