Bond may have all those cool gadgets and fast cars and great women, but it's really kind of cheesy in those movies how he never gets shot or gets his nice suit messed up or anything. Plus Bond enemies are usually non-government syndicates that don't have a whole army like the Nazis. And if you want high-tech, Indy's in the thirties and forties! But he does have an electric whip in the Infernal Machine. Also the reason his whip is worn is because he beats so much ass with it.
