: : Hi Guys,

: : I want to scotchgard my Peters Bros. hat. which kind should I use? The "repels stains and spills" or the "repels rain and moisture".

: : To make matters worse, 3m (the makers of scotchgard) do not recommend using it! I think they just didn't really understand what I was talking about, as Steve has said that he always treats his hats.

: : So Steve, or anybody else, any recommendations? Any problems with colorfastness? Anything else to worry about?

: : Thanks,

: : John D

: Well, not to add anymore confusion to the mix than necessary (ah, why not? (grins)) what I usually use is a light misting of Scotchgard "outdoor upholstery" spray. It's in the green can, and is more for out door gear such as hats and coats than the regular Scotch gard in the red can. I hadn't heard about 3M pulling it off the shelves, though. Guess I'll have to find a new drug of choice now. (grins) Regards. Michaleson

Thanks mike. I was going to use the red can, as the 3M help line people said that the green can tended to have a strong odor. Have you had any trouble with that?

Lay off the hard stuff anyway Michaelson, its not good for you. Keep in mind the first step is admitting you have a problem! ;-) Wait, I guess you already have!

Thanks,

John D
