Sweat band pads (again)

If I put the pads behind the sweat band, will it cause it to have little lumps going all around? I have stuck things behind sweat bands of old wool felt hats before and it caused it to be uncomfortable. This is why I was considering the adhesive ones. But if I am wrong, please guide me to the right direction.
