: I never presumed to tell anyone what they should choose, I just wanted to share my experiences with others so they might know what to expect. I also got a strong feeling from the Herbert Johnson people that they were indulging us weirdos. One person who answered their phone even said, "So you want to look like Indiana Jones, do you?" I could see the smirk even through the phone line. (That's called "hyperbole", Gregg.)

: Then what's-his-name started ranting and whining this week that the mistakes and poor workmanship on my Herbert Johnson were my fault because I didn't specifically tell them that I wanted a properly crafted hat for my ALMOST $300. Sheeeez!

Personally, I have never had any dealings with HJ, and I am really surprised. Previous to your post, I have read varying accounts in regards to their attitude and service. Some accounts were positive, and some have been negetive. Kinda makes me a bit reticent in ordering from them in the future. I do think though that the staff there have always been less than enthused in dealing with Indy fans in general. I guess that is understandable given the type of shop that it is. But this is no excuse for poor workmanship. Surely a shop of that caliber doesn't provide the same poor workmanship to their walkin customers. I really don't know what to make of all this.
