You're right, Most AVG jackets were G-1's, because most of the pilots were marine corp and Navy. In addition, they were all supplied G-1's when they arrived.

However, about 1/3rd or so were from Army Air Corp and brought their own A-2's with them. I have pictures from various sources that show this. I went with an A-2 because I prefer it over the G-1
