Thanks for al the input, everyone. Actually, Joe DID suggest a wider brim. The specs I gave him, the same ones in my post, were taken from a 554 model that I modified. I cut the crown completely off of the brim and raised it to 6" using a stiff, foam extension. I then replaced the ribbon with a 1 3/4" ribbon. I know all the dimensions sound weird but after hours of staring into a mirror with the thing on I feel it looks just right.
