Those pictures of used shoes (and other items) on Indygear.com present a sort of post-modern pastiche of iconic tropes of our shared geist. They are the representations of our projected, gestalt melancholy, a collective yearning for archaism, a frustrated remembrance of things past.
As in a futurist dream, we imagine technologies enhancing our chosen hero's on-screen persona, despairing when mortality overpowers timelessness, when the will of man breaks free of the constraints of kunst (e.g. Harry smokes cigars).
Deus ex machina or autocthonous primitivism, must Hegel continue to sneer behind this post-historical moment? We have a path outside of Manichean dialectic, with our dialogue we have escaped the dialectic; we are out-of-time... shoot, we're outta time, pizza's here...
