: : : I'll be ordering the Peters Brothers hat in the near future, and would appreciate any pointers that the fedora mavens can give me so that I don't have to go through frustrating exercises like shipping the hat back and forth halfway across the country.
: : : I'm looking to own a "Cairo" style hat, tall, razor-sharp creases and all. Do I have to give them specific instructions regarding the dimensional-cut brim, the height of the crown, etc., or do they have a good handle on that stuff already? And if I do have to give them hints, what specifically should I ask for?
: : : I have a pretty regular face, I'm average height (5'10"), average weight (about 165-170 lbs.), average coloring (I'm just your average white guy, I guess) and I wear about a 7-1/4 hat.
: : : What do you think?
: : : Thanks for all your help.
: I wear a 7 1/4 as well. Give Joe these specs. Open crown height 5 3/4. Height of front pinch 4 5/8. Height at sides after bash, 5 1/4. Brim cut to 2 3/4 x 2 5/8. Tell him to copy the hat from the streets or Cairo, as he probably has numerous pics that have been sent to him. I think thse specs will give you what you are after, but you may have to do a little tweeking to get the squared off look of the crown. That's easy to do, and I can walk you through it. Regards, Fedora
