As far as the physical weight of the jacket, deer is a bit heavier than lamb or goat, but not nearly as heavy as cowhide. The lengthening of the sleeves was kinda weird, but other than that, I am considering a third purchase from FS down the road to replace the deerskin I sent back with another. I really liked that skin – it was so comfortable in the cold, and breathed so well in the heat. The only problem I have with it is the thickness of the straps – and that only affects the ability to double them back through the slides. With this current veg goat, I’m just letting them hang loose, so that really won’t be an issue anymore anyway.

Call Dave and get a sample of the veg goat – you really need to see it before you make any decision.
