Question about one leather vs. another. Not starting trouble, just really curious

OK, so now have the FS 'Raiders' jacket; the result of months of costly, painstaking reseach to replicate the 'Raiders' jacket down to the very last stitch and 1/8"th inch this or that. Then, many of you go and have it made in the wrong leather. If the idea was to exactly replicate the jacket, isn't using the same leather a pretty big detail to intenionally forsake? I would think, in the interest of accuracy alone, that lamb would be the only choice?
