Concerning the distressing a Wested . . .

It's been said that with acetone, the Wested simply goes mauve. So, would it be nessesary to use finishing sand paper(extremely fine, such as what is used on plastic scale models) in order to produce a light brown highlight? It will be regularly worn only a few months out the year(I live in SC). However, I'm primarily just trying to create a movie prop with the Wested, so I'm willing to create some physical weathering. Again, is sandpaper the only way to really get a light brown highlight on a Wested?

And, what would be a good approach in distressing a "Temple" Wested to resemble Indy's jacket as he first arrives at the village?

I'd appreciate any input you could give. Thanx in advance.
