I have come to the conclusion that if you want a jacket that looks
like one in the Indiana Jones movies you should probably artificially
age it like MK does. Here goes my line of reasoning. MK's methods
supposedly are not harmful to the leather. You are only lifting out
dye in the leather, a process that normally takes years to occur
naturally. The effect is a vintage looking jacket without the jacket
actually being vintage. The look that many want, comes with a jacket
that in many cases is falling apart. I have found that by treating
leather with good leather products, not only does the leather retain
it's suppleness, but it also retains a "new" look. I believe that if
Indy had achieved the look of his jackets in the movies through
natural methods, his jackets wouldn't be long for the world. Of course
I like the way the jackets look new, but I have a second on the way
and may even get a third. I may decide to go the aging route with one
of them. I guess the point I'm trying to make is that if you want the
vintage look, you should not be afraid to go for it. Chances are you
will never get the vintage look waiting for your jacket to get old.
You'll have to wait a long time, anyway. Just my opinion. Re
