When I was in the depths of studying Arabic, the native instructors were fond of teaching the impressionable students that the Arabs invented darned near EVERYTHING (including the stuff they stole from the Greeks!), but especially gung-ho about their history and culture were the Egyptians. As a country, they are almost (though maybe not quite as proud) of their heritage as the Texans (nm).
I'd better stop before I get in trouble.
