I own a used(very broken in) 10 ft. DM. I have to say if you want to do multiple whip tricks the 8 footer is the way to go. In fact, I still believe it was an 8 footer he was using in Cairo. However, for "the look" you've gotta have a 10 footer hangin' from your belt. I have no problem cracking the 10 footer, and quickly. It just takes practice getting the thing over your head for a good crack and resetting it quickly. I think you made a good purchase. You if decide to later get an 8 footer, I'd go with a MA because it's going to get more wear on it because of it's practicality. However, with a 10 footer you not only can crack it, you can wrap and grab(not easy with an 8 footer). And, if you're already a pro at a 10 footer, you'll be "the man" with the 8.
