Was the original Raiders jacket lamb or cow !?!

So what is the current opinion/evidence: was the original Raiders jacket constructed of thin lambskin or cowhide? I think whatever it was, it was very thin and "dry" as it takes those arm creases very easily. The Raiders jacket looks like it really has been worn for 20 years. The arm creases (inside elbow area) are outstanding. How do you do that to new leather? Which of the the cow or lamb acheive this look better/quicker? I am hearing different opinions here lately about what the original material was. Thanks,
