I actually heard that when Hasbro picked up the Star Wars rights around the early/mid nineties that they gained rights to current/future Lucasfilm productions...so it's anybody's guess who has the rights.

As for Applause, well, they also produced Star Wars toys so the rights can obviously be shared by multiple companie$.
