Regarding that bit Fall Guy wrote about Temple O' Doom:
"In the beginning, Indy is the ruthless adventurer who wants fortune and glory. He even takes Willie hostage[...] In the end, Indy has discovered that friendship is more important than a silly chase after some artifact..."

Now, I barely saw any of the Young Indy shows; but I gather that Young Indy was a fairly nice fellow, good morals and whatnot. Yet, if we're to imagine that the movies and that show are all apiece, and imagine a continuum between YIJC Indy and TOD Indy: how might one explain the apparent drastic character differences between the two portrayals? In other words, assuming (pretending) that this character exists sep. from the individual readings of different actors, writers, etc., can a hypothesis be made regarding the character change? E.g., was the Big Breakup between Indy and the Ravenwoods so caustic and so bitter that it turned Indy from the well-mannered fellow of YIJC into the hard-hearted and ruthless adventurer of TOD? (sure, he redeemed himself by saving all those kids, etc.)
If the Jones-Ravenwood falling out did motivate his ruthless approach to adventuring (and a correlate rejection of the thoughtful humanistic approach in YIJC???), what might underlie that?
Just a notion.

Ok, back to work now.
