Man, I could not agree more. I won't say that Lucas didn't try pretty hard when he made The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles (there was more merchandise in the year leading up to and at least two years after), but I think it all boils down to the fact that the Lucasfirm did not let MacGregor get hard-cover publishing. That may have been the crux that kept it going, since SW did so well without ANYTHING happening at the time it started.
