Officially, no news recently on releasing the INDY trilogy on DVD in the next few months. However, it's VERY likely that they will do so in the future.

I don't have a DVD -- I bought a laserdisc player (ironically three weeks before DVD went onto the market...just my luck.) and while it isn't as good in quality, laserdiscs have an advantage for movie buffs, mainly because many laserdisc editions feature WIDESCREEN format and special addendums/extra footage and commentary. CRITERION has released some of the best collector's LD's -- CLOSE ENCOUNTERS, BLADE RUNNER, BRAZIL, 2001, and the upcoming EVITA with extra footage and/or interviews.

Though the INDY films are released on laserdisc in widescreen editions (and RAIDERS, upon its initial release in 1984 on laser, is available in a CAV and special CLV -- freezable frame -- edition, though only in pan-and-scan), there also has yet to be a THX sound laser rerelease.

Let's hope something will happen...it's likely, especially with the advent of a new Indy film.
