In the movies were are led to believe that Indy wears an old shirt, pants, boots and bag. But in reality these items are top quality garments that in some cases can nearly cost an arm and a leg. The Jacket is reasonably priced as that is what you would pay for a decent leather jacket, but as for the hat, whip and shoes, they are ridiculously overpriced. The only exception being the bag.
It's a bit of a joke really.
I really don't think Indy (if he existed) would even contemplate spending anything close to that for his gear!
On a closing note, the whip in my opinion really takes the biscuit, I mean $300 for something you would never use! Some people must have money to burn.
