: I'll tell you why I think the Last Crusade is better: Harrison Ford acts better in it, the movie's got more emotion (the father-son relationship) and Sean Connery is in it and plays a great role. The movie is also more serious in nature, (even though it contains lots of humor) which makes it more mature in a way. But I'd easily give Raiders a close second place. Excellent flic, no discussion. But I'm too young to have seen all the movies in the cinema (born in '82) so I can't judge the experience of having seen Raiders, and comparing that movie with the follow-ups. But I'm certainly looking forward to the fourth Indy picture (although it's annoying that I'm not certain when it actually is going to reach cinemas. Vague info.)
: Temple of Doom has some great moments, but is without a doubt (in my opinion) the least Indy movie. (Don't take me wrong, I love the movie nevertheless.)

I'm totally in agreement with you on your reasons for puttin Last Crusade at the top, though I will also add that it has the very best musical soundtrack, IMO (well done, Mr. Williams!). Also, from my being interested in the Arthur Legends since I was small, I find the concept of the Grail more interesting than that of the Ark (but again, that's just me). Even though I like it better, Raiders is still a great movie. All three are terrific, and all three have their moments of absolute perfection.

Still, Raiders is my least favorite of the trilogy: this may shock a lot of you, but I actually like "Temple of Doom" more. Why? It's so DIFFERENT. A completely different flavor than the other Indy movies; here we get to see Indy plunged into a completely unique and new adventure, thrown into something even he's never seen before. Here, Indy gets a chance to be, in my eyes, even more of a hero than in Raiders: alone in a place of absolute evil, with no one to turn to, it is TOTALLY up to him to stop the cult and save the children (and the rest of the world in the process). It's REALLY just up to him, the man he his.

The fact that I also like the Temple of Doom Soundtrack more than I do the music from Raiders helps too. (Love that chanting!)

Just my thoughts.
