I don't think it would be a federal crime to set the next Indy pic in the same time period as the others. Indy is so weather-beaten that he seems ageless anyway. Plus the movies don't hammer home Indy's age. If it weren't for the young Indy Chronicles we wouldn't know so much about his age anyhow.
I think Harrison Ford could play a 40-ish character without it looking too ridiculous.

As far as Indy's clothes; the fedora is timeless so it wouldn't need to be retired. Same goes for the jacket. Being as Indy is a man and we men don't change our style of dress much once we hit full adulthood, I think Indy would dress very similar to the way we always see him dressed.
