: : As we all know, even though "Last Crusade" is set after the events in "Raiders", Marian never showed up to take part in the action and Indy ended up falling for Elsa. Not that I minded, I thought that Alison Doody was great.

: : Anyway, I was wondering. When George Lucas and the others involved first sat down to begin work on the film, was Marian origionally supposed to be incorporated into the story? Was Karen Allen already busy on some other project and was unavailable for the role?
: : I was simply curious. I remember once reading that the only reason Marian wasn't included included in "Temple" was because of the year the story took place.

: : Thanks,

: Well, Strider (yes, I've read LotR), I can't answer your question, but I will say that Karen Allen was my favorite heroine mainly because she was the most independent of the three, unlike Chicken-hearted Capshaw and Double-crosser Doody. I say yea to bringing her character back to the movies.

I agree with you. It's good to see someone familiar with the War of the Ring. With Marian aside, here's a weird thought. In "Indy IV", let's have our hero chase after an artifact that somehow links him to the ancient Realm of Gondor, so we can have a unification of both the greatest film series and the greatest novels ever written... "Indiana Jones and the Palantir Stone" or something like that. Just a thought.
