Hat & scotchgard question-Steve, Michaelson?

Hi Guys,

I want to scotchgard my Peters Bros. hat. which kind should I use? The "repels stains and spills" or the "repels rain and moisture".

To make matters worse, 3m (the makers of scotchgard) do not recommend using it! I think they just didn't really understand what I was talking about, as Steve has said that he always treats his hats.

So Steve, or anybody else, any recommendations? Any problems with colorfastness? Anything else to worry about?
