I've been off-line for a couple days, so forgive the lateness of my
response...

According to a recent post (see link), Disney is "annoyed"
that news of the Indy toys got on the internet and the demand was so
great that they sold out until June, and now they've cut off any phone
orders for Indy items. Although, you'd think a sale is a sale, Disney
purportedly meant for the merchandise to go to theme park-goers.

I fail to understand the logic. If it's supposed to be a draw to the
park don't people have to know about their existence? I doubt if
we'll see TV ads or billboards telling us to plan our vacations now in
order to get Indy figures. (Now some of us might do just that, but I
don't think it would be a very effective campaign for "normal" people)

Besides, why does a mail-order division even exist if some merchandise
is solely meant for the parks? Practically every mall in the US has a
Disney Store which could have the merchandise meant for "wide"
distribution.

The saddest thing about this whole thing is that there is a clear
demand for these figures and they've cut off the one good source for
Indy fans who aren't fortunate enough to live near Anaheim or Orlando.
Now, they are just encouraging scalpers, giving them the sole line of
supply to people who never step foot in the parks.

Hey, Disney! You want some advice on how to solve this problem. It's
a real conundrum, a riddle wrapped in an enigma. I can understand why
you haven't thought of it... Wait for it...

Make more. Make more! MAKE MORE!!!!
